Government Arts & Commerce College Kathlal is situated in the fertile region of Charotar. It has good infrastructure having all the need of an academic institution surrounded by greenery. College is established in 2012 by the government of Gujarat. in the beginning the college was started in Sheth M R High School of Kathlal.
The town of Kathlal is a taluka place surrounded by the villages mostly having OBC community. Though it is a semi urban area, Kathlal has all modes of facilities and transportations. The place is also known for Monument Kirti Stambh which is situated in middle of village. Gandhiji visited this place during the Independence movement. There is a tree named Kailashpati is in Kathlal. It is a rare tree, hardly available in India, has medicinal use. The uniqueness of the tree is that it bears flowers on its trunk.
At present the college has a state of the art new building constructed in 2016 with model college grant by the centre and state government. The college has both Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Commerce programmes affiliated with Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Kheda District. Gujarati, English, History, Sociology and Sanskrit are major subjects for B.A. and Accountancy is a major subject in B.Com. As the college is a government college all the teaching and non teaching staff are recruited by the government through proper selection process.
